GIRL DROWNED IN HUTT EIVER-.
A sad drowning accidenfcoccurml in lhe Hutt River .yesterday afternoon, the victim being n girl named Evelyn Maeindoe, aged 15, daughter of Captain Mnciudoe, secretary of tho Merchant Service Guild. The fl'ir! went in for a bathe near tho Main < Bridge, where tho current runs fairly fast. She was but a poor swimmer, and waded into the water up tn her neck. Evidently the current proved too strong for hor, for she was swept off her feet nnd disappeared. An alarm ins immediately raised by her two young sisters, who wore watching from the bank, and Mr. Thomas Flinn, butcher, of Lower Hutt, whoso shop is located noar the scons of the fatality, hastened to tho rescue.
