DEFEAT ED GENERAL ON THE RESULT
VON' KLUCK ' INTERVIEWED. '(Rec. December 16, 0.15 a.m.) Paris, December 14. General von Kluck (who was defeated at the first Battle of the Marne in 1914), in a recent interview, said that the Germans had a colossal flag, four hundred yards square, which they intended to hoist on the Eiffel Tower. Though the Germans suffered .from' lack of material, the great reason for the turn of the tide in the early stages of the war was the French power of recovery. The Germans had.not reckoned on. that. Von Kluck admitted that he , had blundered, but others were equally at fault. He added; "Wo have had too much of savants."— Aus.-N.55. Cable Assn.-Reuter.
