At a special meotine of tho Groytown Borough Council on Thursday the Mayor (Mr. D. P. loasby) reported with regard to the action of the . Defence authorities in.forwarding V.D. patients to the Featherston Camp, that ho hnd consulted with the (Mayor of Featlierston (Mr. J. W. Card), and in conjugation with the latter had interviewed the P.M.O. in charge at Featherston, and ho and Mr. Card had forwarded the following telegram to tho Minister of Defence:—"Wβ respectfully urge you to reconsider decision to bring venereal cases to Feathewton Camp, situated as it is in the midst of Spttlwl distrirtt, and close to township. ' Public in d ; '' '•' much concerned, and wo think i* "nl to public welfare to continue." T!>. favor also stated that the P.M..0. infenicd him that there ivero only 35 cases, and that as far as he knew was the total number in New Zealand; that 25 wevo to lie discharged at once ns cured, and that of the remaining feu only three wnro suffering from syphilis, iand tho other seven, vrmld he shortly dif-nnrpad as cured; that thepatients were all under strict guard, and hnd to-wotr the "osm'tul uniform of o distinctive blue colour. After hearing tho Mayor's report the meeting adjourned until Monday.
