A SHORT LIST OF POLICE iCASES. At the' Magistrate's Court yesterday ■Mr. F. V. Frazer, S.M., was on the bouch, and dealt with the police cases. For insobriety one first offender, who failed to appear, had his bail of 10s. forfeited. For being, found-on licensed premises after",closing hours, ■ 'A. B. Smith, B. M'Hugli,,P«rcy Warbrick. W. Ravcndale, Frederick Knox, -James Weight, and E. C. Sadler were each fined ill, and costs 75., in default 72 hours' imprisonment. ; R. Wiggins, who failed to appear, was convict ed of driving his motor-ear on the Hutt Road at an excessive speed, on tho day of the last Trentham races, and was fined ,E5 and costs 7s. ...Amy Elizabeth Fyfe, of Miramar, trading under the style of Fyfe Bros., was charged with selling-milk containing added water. Mr. J. J'. M'Grath apoeared for the defendant, who pleaded guilty. The facts wero that the real vendor of the milk was defendant's husband, who is tho owner of tho business and is at present in France. The Health Department admitted that- thii defendant bad an unblemished record for eleven years, and also that previous samples token were well up to standard. The defendant stated on oath that the milk.from which the , sample was taken was purchased from; another vendor, as their-own sup-ply'was-short during the winter months. Her husband tested any samnles of 'milk •purchased by hijii before selling to tho public, but his wife did nor. understand .tho'testing process. The milk sold was obtained from their own farm, except in the winter month's, when the supply ran short- by about 20 gallons.
