SCHOONER ARRESTED. The schooner Oakland, from America, was arrested at Lyttelton on Tuesday on 'a warrant issued on behalf ol Messrs. Wright. Stephenson and Co.. and W. H. Siums an<l Sons, Ltd., of Christchurch. The Oakland arrived in on September 6. from San Francisco. During the voyage she sprang a leak, and from then until she was docjied at Lyttelton there was some feel of water in her hold which necessitated her bein<: pumped out frequently. She is a wooden threemasted schooner of 418 tons gross register, and was built at San Franrisco in 1902. The vessel.'which has been loading at Lyttelton for some time, was fixed to sail on Saturday for Apia, in ballast. Tt is alleged that on the voyage out tho water which leaked into tho vessel rusted many tins of petrol consigned to the plaintiffs, and spoilt the contents. They are. therefore, suing the owner of the vessel, who live in Oregon. United States, for the sura of £W0 damages. This claim will be hoard in the Supreme Court buildings.
