Nominations for Greymouth Jockey Club's Summer meeting must be made by Friday, and entries for AVestland Racing Club's programme by Saturday. Acceptances for the Taranaki Jockey Club's Christmas meeting are <Uie by nine o'clock to-night. King Lupin is included amongst tho acceptors for the Railway Handicap, and should the chestnut start he will be contesting the race for the fifth year in succession, hi 1913, as a three-year-old, ho carried 7st. to victory, but the three following years he ran unplaced. Last Boxing Day, when conceding Hymestra. Gib., the judge could not separate the two chestnuts. King Lupin has not raced sinco he finished unplaced in the Newmarket Handicap at Kllerslio last New Yearjs Day, anil this will not help him in his race on Boxing Dny next. A. J. M'Flinn, who is-retained'to rido Mr. E. Short's horses when wanted, will bo on Bonnie Maid in tho Auckland Cup and Gaziriuo in the Railway .Handicap. He will have tho mount on Parorangi in the Great Northern Peal Stakes. When he is not wanted to rido Mr. Goring Johnston's horses at Ellerslie, ]{. Reed will steer the • Messrs. Williams's horses. It is expected Reed will havo the mount on Depredation, on whom he scored in 1016. Mr. W. R. Kemball's gelding, Municipal, is again in commission at Opaki. On the second day of tho Wagga (N.S.W.) meeting the raco for the Maiden Plate lapsed owing to all the acceptors being scratched. The two-year-old fillies which Murray Hobbs recently received from Mr. J. Jt. Roid are getting through useful tasks at Riccarlon. The filly by lCflbroiioy from Orange Pippin is smnll, but she is more forward than her mate, the' half-brother to Kilmoon by Sunny Lake. The youngsters will not bo able lo show their best form Tor some time yet. Anothor role has lieon found for the champion miiro Desert Gold, and if reports are true she bids fair to mako as big a success in her new sphere as she has on Iho turf. Whilst waiting for the Fleni'iugton fixture to come up for decision a picture film, entitled "Desert Gold," was taken, and the mare played the leading role. The story is said to be I entirely fictitious, and the characters are purely imaginary. The bay daughter of All Black is said lo have proved an excellent picture actress. The Irish St. Leger, run last September, was won by Lord d'Abortion's chest mil colt Dionysos. The distance was a mile and three-qimrtei's. mid the stake was worth 1500 sovs. Dionysos, who won in a canter, is a. linlf-brotlier to Don Rey- | naldo. who was imparted to Australia by t he Messrs. Tjo.
