TARANAKI STREET WESLEY CHURCH

' Tho annual meeting of the congregation of the Taranaki Street Wesley Church was held on Wednesday evening, and was presided over by the Rev. .1. G. Chapman. There was. a representative attendance.

The report presented by the stewards expressed gratitude to Almighty God for His mercies, and that He has enabled Britain and her allies to triumph in vindication of Right oyer Might in the now happily ended war. The roll of honour was a fairly large one, and efforts would,be made to make it as complete as possible as a permanent memorial to the memory of the heroes who fought and died for their country. The'attendance upon public worship had been well maintained, and the ministry of the Rov. J G. Chapman had been most acceptable. Gratification was expressed' that Mr. Chapman, was to remain as superintendent of the circuit for another year, making the ninth. A special feature in connection with the Church was the monthly celebration of the communion service, which was largely attended, and which greatly influenced and stimulated Church work. The Sunday School was well equipped in methods of dealing with the scholars with a zealous superintendent and staff. This department had suffered much thronj-'h the depletion of teachers by I lie exigencies of the war. Inroads had been ma'de in the ranks through the passing of many highlyresoected members of the communion, and sincere sympathy was tendered to the bereaved ones. The membership stood at SSI senior and 17li junior. The Poreiini Mission effort nroduccd a sum nf •■2!)f) Us. lOd.
