A meeting o'f the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held last evening. Mr. Meadowcroft was in the chair. A reply was received'from the City Council regarding.tlie destruction of dogs'mid cats, stating'that .if an owner" wished to have his dop destroyed and satisfied tho inspector that he was the owner, the animal was taken in at a small fee, and that ended the matter as fnv- as he was concerned. Tho council regretted that it' could not see its way to" iiccede to the to destroy, ents in the chamlx-r.
