A' raw and bitter southerly, with frequent rain-squalls, prevailed throughout yesterday. The official forecast does not hold out a prospect of settled fino weather in llio immediate future; strong southerly winds, decreasing everywhere shortly, and changing to the north-west in and south of Cook Strait; cold and changeable weathor generally, with passing'showers in the northern and East Coast districts. A "temporary improvement" is probable eoou.
