Through the generosity of the Now. Zealand Shipping Co. Mr. 0. ft. Smith, Mr. C. H. Seville, Mr. M. M'Leod, L.M.M., and many others who rendered financial and other assistance, the committee of tho Wellington branch of the British and Foreign Sailors' Society was able to arrange a very pleasant outing in Seatoun Park for sailors off the various ships in. port on Satnrd.iy. After lunch in the rooms of tho society ■the party journeyed by tramea.r to (he stiisido resort. Owing to the uncertainly as to how the weather would act the party was not as large, as had been expected, but those present spent a very enjoyable time with football, r- uaders, and * other games. Rel'ivshmeuts were provided during the afternoon. After having tea on the grounds the party returned to the'city in a very satisfied' frame of mind, arriving back at the rooms at about 7 p.m. The slithering was soon augmented by the addition of many sailors who had -ot had the opportunity of taking p: ) in the day's amusements. : Parlour games and singing v.ere indulged in, uiul after supper a very pleasant day's festivities closed with the singing of' British and French National Anthems (there were several r'rench sailors present). On Sunday night the usual S o'clock tea was provided, and was well attended by sailors from the various vessels in port. The tea was followed by a bright Gospel service. i
