8 ; • ~'./. IMPORTANT AMENDMENTS. Additional'clauses of the War Legislation Bill were introduced'last night by Governor's Message. They deal with several important matters, arid were approved by the House after .one. or two members had made brief protests' against this method of legislation". ■■'•"■' is jrovided- for the .Appoint-, 'ihent' of" organising" teachers,' who; may serve a school or a group'of schools; ' -; Section 121 of the Education Act, 19U, empowering education boards to. make regulations requiring attendance a't continuation and technical classes, is amend-' ed'by transferring the power from the boards to the Governor-in-Council. Young persons may be required to attend for one half day; and one evening, the regulations requiring part time attendance during the day to apply only to such trades, occupations, and-callings and to such districts as are prescribed. The Minister of Education is given power to establish probationary homes, for children., • Another clnu6e provides for the revival of the apprenticeship of a returned soldier. The contract of apprenticeship may be revived on notice from the soldier within six. months of the date of discharge from the forces. The Prime' Minister explained that provision had' been made elsewhero for making up the /wages of such apprentices. * - The Court of Arbitration is! given power, during the currency of any award or industrial agreement, to wholly: or partially continue, revive, increase, or terminate any war bonus' provided for therein. ~.; .
