TEACHERS' SALARIES
■• , g "UNDER CONSIDERATION." A question regarding the increases to be made. in ■ teachers' salaries, by way of bonus or otherwise, was asked of the Minister of Education by Mr. J. M'Combs in the House of Representatives on Saturday. The Minister of Education (the Hon. J.' A. Hanan) said that proposals for increases in teachers' salaries were under the consideration of the Government. Cabinet would deal with this matter and that of the bonus when the Supplementary Estimates were under consideration, With reference to the complaint that had been made by some technical teachers regarding the unfair position in. which they were placed with regard to superannuation, this was a matter for legislation. A large number of legislative proposals woro contained in "a draft Education Amendment Bill. Cabinet had decided that such a Bill should not be introduced this session.
