THE SICK AND WOUNDED
MUST BE REMEMBERED.
The following letter was "received" by the Advisory Board of Patriotic Societies at yesterday's meeting from Mr. H. J. Russell, secretary of the ■ Hawke's Bay War Relief Association:—
"At the last meeting of the Executive Committee of this association, attention was called to the numerous funds that were being subscribed to by the. New Zealand public with tho result that the fund for New Zealand sick and wounded soldiers was to a great extent being overlooked, as evidenced by the falling off of subscriptions for our own men. It was pointed out that days are set asitlo on which special efforts ore made for appeals, and that this method proved most successful in raising money. My committee consider one or two days in each year should bo devoted to raising money, throughout New Zealand for the Sick and Wounded Soldiers' Fund, and it was decided to forward this suggestion to your board for their favourable consideration with a view to representations l>oing made to the Government to have this suggestion given effect to. My committee think that tho anniversary of the dsv on which tho first contingent «nil"d from New Zealand should be one of the ' days devoted to this purpose."
