A .mooting of ibusiness men, hold under the auspices of the Chambers of Manufacturers and Commerce, protested against the continuance of the restrictions of the War Precautions and War Time Profits Acts, and instanced New Zealand's abandonment of the latter.—Press Asßn. [What actually happened in New Zealand was that in 1917 tho excess profits tax was abandoned, but in its place heavy increases were made in the land and income taxes.] .
