THE VALUABLE SERVICES OP THE FLEET. The monthly meeting of the Executive Committee of the "Wellington Branch of the Navy League was held on Tuesday afternoon. There-were-present: Messrs. J. B. As a result, a large number of new members are being enrolled in the districts. It was decided, on account of the schools being disbanded owiuj; to the influenza epidemic, to defer the presentation of prizes to school member 6 for the present. • At the request of the Ladies' Auxiliary, the name of Mrs. Bradney-Williains was added to the main Executive Committee. Mrs. Hall-Thompson reported that assistance had been rendered during the epidemic to the hospital on the Takapuna, and a vote of thanks was passed to Miss Laurenson for undertaking the organisation of this work. ■ ', Arrangements are being made for, the entertainment of the naval men in port during the Christmas holidays. : v The chairman referred to the.great success which hnd attended the work of the Fleet during the war, and the.following resolution was unanimously carried: "That this meeting of the Executive Committee of the Wellington Branchof the Navy League desires to'express its sincere thanks for the valuable services rendered by His Majesty's Tvavy and mercantile marine during the long period of the war, and <xlends its'congratulations upon the great success achieved, and urges that an all-powerful Nnvv, air force, and mercantile marine /should be maintained as the factors essential for the security of the Empire. [t was decided to forward copies of the resolution to the authorities at Home, and to the New Zealand delegates at the Peace Conference, with special representations that an all-powerful Navy, air force, and mercantile marine should be maintained as the factors essential for the security of the Empire. .
