MAGISTRATE'S COURT
POLICE, BY-LAW. AND, CIVIL ~ CASES. Mr. F. V. Frazer, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday, and dealt with the police cases. For insobriety a first offender was convicted and discharged. A remand to appear at Westport was granted in the case of Harold Hands, who Was charged with disobeying a maintenance order made at Westport, the arrears totalling £23. Edward William Petherick, who' pleaded guilty to driving a motor-car in tho city without first satisfying the motor inspector of his ability to drive same, was fined ss. ami costs 7s. The defendant had since obtained his license. Richard John Tarr was fined 20s. and costs 7s.' for allowing stock to wander at Karori. CIVIL CASES. Mr. W. G. Iliddell, S.M., dealt with the civil, cases and gave judgment for plaintiff by default in the following cases:— Casey Bros. v. T. W. Ward, £Z 10s., costs 125.; N.Z. Tyro and Rubber Co. v. ,T. R. Jones, £i Cs. hi, costs 10s.; State Advances Superintendent v. John A. Bradley, .£32 Us. 3d., costs .£1 Bs.; H. H. Tombs, Ltd., v. W. J. Hopkins and Co., .£1 17s. Gd., costs 55.; Matthews and Co., Ltd., v. J. M'Nee, .001 Bs., costs £i Os. Gd.; Reginald Collins, Ltd., v. A. Craig, £3 os., costs 135.; same v. A. J. Chalmers, Is., costs 13s. In a claim for possession of a tenement, together with a sum of £10 17s. 2d., A. D. Aitken was ordered to give up possession to 11. H. Rayward on or before December 17, and to pay the amount claimed, with ,£3 13s. costs.
