The Minister of Public Health (Hon. G. The dealers asked what position Hie Government was taking up in connection with the matter. The Minister replied that he regretted that the waterside workers of Auckland had indicated that they refused to work the Makiira, but that the Health Department would offer no objection to any action that might be proposed with a view to discharging the cargo. The propospl was practically that suggested by the passengers, to wit, that those for New Zealand should undergo quarantine detention ashore at Jlotuihi, allowing the vessel to proceed on to Syliiey, where it was hoped she would arrive a clean ship. The passengers are to be landed on the island to-day.
