A serious five occurred early this morning'in llio promises of the i\ew Zealand Variners' Co-operative Association, n three-story block. Tiie top floors, used for tho boot, tailoring, and furnishing departments, were completely destroyed, while the ground floor, containing grain .nnil merchandise, was swamped with water, and hag been rendered practically valueless. 'Die saddlery department ww also damaged by water. ■ The insurance on the whole of the association's; property is JiISI.OOO, and on tho gulled areas 0J13.W0, in the South British Office, .but it is reinsured in twenty other, offices.
