CITY COUNCIL
POSTPONED MONTHLY MEETING. The' Mayor (Mr. J. P. Like), Councillors A. Veitch, W. Hildreth, J. Castle, W. J. Thompson, C. B. Norwood, J. 0. Shorland, M. F. Luckie, L. M'Kenzie, A. R. Atkinson, J. Godber, G. Frost, W. H. P. Barber, and ,T. E. Fitzgerald were present at the meeting of the AVellington City Council held yesterday afternoon.
The following recommendations of the Reserves and Public Gnrdens Committee were agreed to:—(1) That tlio request of certain cricket clubs, mnile through the Wellington Cricket Association, for the erection of a wire netting fence on the east and south sides of Kolburn Pnrk bo considered as soon as ever it is possible "to obtain. the necessary material. (2) That a request from ■a cricket club for a reduction in (he fee of £1 per month for the preparation of a practice wicket be not entertained. (3) That authority be granted for tho expenditure of approximately .£155 in the construction of asphalt paths and concrete crossings in the Basin Deserve. (i) That an offer.to accept a yearly tenancy of tho Town Belt section lying to tine east of Mein Street, at a rental of -£2(! 10s. per. annum, be not accepted. (5) That the Gear Company employees be granted the use of Williams l'nrk grounds for their annual picnic to bo held on January 1G at Hie usual charge. (6) That the- Day's Buy Ratepayers' Association be advised of the position with regard to the supply of the Newton bequest seats.
On the recommendation of the Finance Committee it was decided: "That the present contract for the supply of printing and stationery for the general corporation services be extended for a further period of two years at the same prices."
