The additions mnde to the rolling stocl during the year consisted of : 21 new loco motives, 9 bogie, cars, i bogie brake-rand and 11-9 wagons, says the General Jlana ger of Bailways in his annual report Of the new engines added ti (ho stock, fourteen were built ii the Government Railway Workshops, am comprised seven simple superheated ten der. engines; Class AIJ, two heavy snbur ban tank engines; .Class WAB. and h'vi heavy tank engines,' Class \VW. Owing to the diffi cully in obtaining material Ihrwork hat been considerably retarded, and the pects for the near future in the matte! of obtaining constnietie-ii material fron abroad are not encouraging. During thi year 512 modern car, van, and wagoi axles were substituted for the old iroi type, increasing the carrying capacity o: each vehicle by two lons. The 21 { addi tional locomotives,.taken in conjunction with boiler renewals of locomotives ii service, has increased the tractive powei In- 4:41 per cent.
