YESTERDAY'S MEETING At the meeting of Hie Land Board held* on Thursday there wtVe present the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr. G. H. 11. M'Clure) in the chair, mid Messrs. J. ticorgctti and C. M'lntyre. Messrs. ,T. Dawson and 11. T. Ellingham were granted leave of absence. Applications for Land, The following applications for land were approved:— Sections 17, mock V, and 3, Block VI, Kauriinu township, 2 roods 38 perches, temporary permit, N.Z. Fertiliser Co., Ltd. Suctions 38 and 39, Block 111, Kaitawa S.D., 117 acres 3 roods 33 perches, K.S.K.L., Thomas F. Lewis; animal rent, •£163; annual building instalment for fourteen years, .£75 15s. Date of lease .to bo October 2, 1918. Sections lb and 2a, Block IV, Waitohu, GOO acres, L.S.K.L., Lionel E. Dixon; annual rent, .£lB7 10a. Date of lease to be October 3, 1918. Transfers. The following transfers wore approved: Lot 1 of 11G, Palmerston North, 23 perches, P. D. Hanselmann, Kairanga Meat C 0.,. Ltd.. Part railway leserve fronting section 2-1, Block VIII, Kairanga, 3 acres ;1C perches, Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd., to T. A. Haokett. Section C 7, Block IX, Wangaehu S.D., 212 acres, W. Todd to P. E. Edith A. Chatfield. Miscellaneous. Mrs. H. S. King asked that Miss N. B. Kiley be accepted as transferee of portion of Section 89, Bloek VIII, Bolmovt S.D. (Normnndale Settlement), in pls«o of W. M. Wilson (deceased).—Approved. A schedule of expiring education reserve leases was submitted, showing the rentals at which the ranger recommended that renewals should bo granted — Approved. • The following proposal for the expenditure of "thirds" wns approved, in terms ol the ranger's recommendation:—Ohakuno Borough Council, «£GG Bs. Bd. An application was received from six settlers in Blocks XIII and XIV, Kaitieke S.D., and 11, Makotuku S.D., to have their holdings constituted a special raiding district.—Refused. Mr. F. G. Cliesham applied to surrender 75, Block IV, llomohaki S.D. (ll'lf acres).—Surrender accepted. The Waitotara County Council applied for the use of part Section 6, Block XIV, lauakira S.D., as a paddock for roadman s. horses.—lt was resolved to allow tho council to occupy about two acres between the Ahu-Ahu Valley Eoad and stream during the pleasure of the Land Board, providing no damage is (lone to the adjoining bush, and, noxious weeds are kept down.—Approved. , Mr. L. E. Bacon a; "ied for a lease of •Section 2 Block 11, Uwhango township, 1 rood.-It was resojyjed to grant him a permit to occupy from year to year from January 1, 1919, under section 130 ({ the Land Act, 1908, at a lent of £1 per annum, suhiect to the usual conditions Mrs. Kbsetta Grnebner applied for a longer lease of Section U, Block V Owhango township, 2 roods 11 perches than from year to ycar.-It was resolved to cancel the resolution passed with regard to this case of. September 2G, and to approve of her being granted a license to occupy for a term of five years under section 130 of the Land Act, 1903, at a rent of .£3 per annum, subject to the usual conditions..
Mr. A. H. Mr E A. Port applied to transfer to Mr. E V. fiutherfurd his permit to occupy Section 10, Block IV, Pohangina h.p. Gl acres.-It was resolved to terminate Mr. Port's permit as on Dec ■- ber 31, 1918, and to approve of Mr. Biuncrfurd being granted a similar permit to occupy from year to year under section 130 ot the Land Act, 1908, at a rent of .£3 per annum, subject to the usual con-
Mr. -C. S. Moore applied to purchase or lease an area of Crown land to the south of Section 81, Block VIII pßefeakariki S.D., 11 acres.-It was resolved to decline, as there is no legal road access.
.Mr. J. L.
