CRICKET
■ MATCHES TO BE FURTHER POSTPONED. A meeting of Hie Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Association was held on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs. C. G. Wilson (chairman), J. D. Howitt, D. M'lvenzie, W. H. Granger, M J. Crombie, and V. B. Willis. The chairman feelingly referred to the loss which the association had sustained in the recent death of Mr. Arthur Bennett, one of thei members of the Championship Committee, and a motion was passed expressing sympathy with his relatives in their bereavement. It was decided to pluc-e on record in the minute book the committee's appreciation of tho valuablo services rendered by Mr. Bennett in tho interests of cricket. Considerable discussion took place as to the position which had arisen owing to tho probable disbandment of the Trentliam Camp team and as a result of the influenza epidemic. On tho suggestion of the chairman it was decided to sixain postpone the playin* of matches on Saturday, and to hold a meeting next Tuesday, when it would be recommended that there should be a reclassification of all clubs and that tho season should start afresh with a new round of fixtures on December 6. It wfcs decided, in view of the proposed resumption of the playing of Plunket Shield m -1r cl l? s U us ® nson - to "Bain affiliate with the New Zealand Cricket Council. No Boys' League matches will be played on Saturday.
