CEREBROSPINAL MENINGITIS
SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC. Cerebrospinal meningitis has occurred among the influenza convalescents at the camps, and already there have beeii deaths from the disease, -In the Housy of Representatives yesterday Mr. Nosworthy asked the Minister of Public Health whether proper steps t were beirig taken to prevent the spread 'of the disease among the civil population. v Mr. Russell said that during the whole period of tho war the PubliS Health Department 1 had watched closely, for cases of c.s.m. among' the civil population. In this case tho responsibility would rest on the Defence authorities to see that no contacts with c.e.in. caseg would be allowed to leave camp until danger of infection had passed. If cases should occur among civilians every effort would be made to eee that patients and contacts were isolated in. the most complete manner, and every other precaution would, be taken to prevent tho disease from spreading.
