Mr. M'Adoo resigned tlie Secretaryship of the Treasury and the Director-General-ship of Railways because of the inadequate compensation allowed to Cabinet oificers. President Wilson, in accepting the resignation, i congratulated Mr. M'Adoo on his war services. Mr. M'Adoo stated that he was also influenced in his decision to resign as the burdensome cost of living had greatly depleted his personal resources.— Aiis.N. 7.. Cable Assn.
