AMERICAN NAVAL EXPANSION
STATEMENT BY MR. DANIELS. (Rec. November 21, 9.15 p.m.) Washington, November 19. Mr. J. Daniels (United States Secretary to the Navy), conferring with the House Naval Committee, recommended continued naval expansion irrespective of tbe League of Nations or a reduction of armaments. "Immediate security," he said, "must precede the future settlement of difficult questions. The United States must establish a large sea polico force with a view to assisting in maintaining the world's peace. The. present programme calls for the construction of,ten super-Dreadnoughts, six battle-cruisers, and one hundred and forty smaller fcraft."—Renter.
