POLISH SOLDIER'S INVENTION.

Tho Paris "Journal" says that a Polish scientist named Kami, who is a soldier of the Foreign Legion, is said to havo invented an apparatus which will enable persons blinded by accident, and particularly'by wounds received in war, to perceive uerlain visible notations. Kami, who has been specially authorised to go fo Nice in order lo carry out experiments, has constructwl a sort of mask, which is placed over the face of the blind man and connected to a portable electric induction apparatus. The apparatus comprises prismatic lenses, a chamber for the filtration of luminous (•ays, and phosphorescent places. Exactly as foreseen by tho inventor, blind men upon whom experiments wero tried perceived successively, instead (f tho usual vellowish grey, (I).nil the colours of tho 'spectrum, beginning with red; (2) natural white light; (3) shallows and objects in this whiio light. Ono of them even distinguished different pieces of furniture and told the difference'hetween groups of two or three fingers, and also indicated the extent of a gardon in brilliant light.—Renter.
