His choice as Under-Secretary' by Lord llliondda was a surprise, mid there was conjecture, as to whether tlio employer and the Labour lender would lm able to ■ work amicably together. Tho clioice was justified, and Mr. Clynes won golden opinions not only in the House of Commons, but in tho country, for ifie mastorl, , ; way m which he has tackled the vast lirahlcm. During the last illness of Viscount IMiondda the fireater portion of the work fell upon Mr. Clynes, so that in takinc up the higher post he will be familiar with tho many interests involved.
