AND SUNDAY SERVICES. Tho Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) stated yesterday that, having the health of the community generally to consider, he deemed it inadvisable for any church services to be held on Sunday next. He had consulted several of the clergy on the point, and they generally agreed that it might be in the best interests of the people if they were not called together on Sunday, as such gatherings ot citizens were considered to be inimical to the best interests of the community. Such an arrangement need not-interfere with anyone's private, devotions. Indeed, it was a time for the earnest supplication for Divine aid, and he hoped that none would fail in their religious duties on the Lord's Day if the churches were to close'
