Tho scarcity of oranges and lemons in Wellington and the adjoining boroughs has caused an increase in the price to an extent which is considered by the Government to bo against the 'public interest. An Order-in-Conncil, under the. Regulation of Trade and Commerce Act, 1914, will be gazetted early to-day fixing tho maximum price for both oranges and lemons of the best quality nt threepence apiece, and for oranges and lemons of an inferior qunlity at a price, not exceeding that charped for fruit of that inferior quality on November 1, 1918,
In order to prevent dealers in fruit refusing to sell at those prices a warrant 'ha.f been issued to all officers nf police and persons actinp; under their direction to seize and tal;e possession on behalf of His Majesty of all oranges and lemons within the City of Wellington and the adjoining boroughs. If a dealer in fruit refuses to sell to any person at or under Mie maximum price, such person is requested to communicate at once with the police in order that immediate steps may be taken against; the offender.
