HAWKE'S. BAY AND. MANAWATU DISTRICT SYNOD. .The ministerial session of the Synod met on Tuesday niorniuo; in the Fo'xlon Methodist. Church. The Rev. T, R. Richards (Napier) presided. The. Revs. B. J. James (Sanson) aiid-J. Richards (Danncviirku), und two homo missionaries, M. Ays ton (Ualcombe)- and J. Richards (Apiti), were-.warmly welcomed to the district;. A vole of condolence with the rela-tives-of tho late Rev. C. H. Garland, uf Auckland, Principal of tho Theologi-cal-College was passed. Sympathy was -expressed with the Rev. V. \\'. Boys,'of [ J alnierston Noi-lli, who was ill with influenza, ami with the Rev. W. It' E. Abbey, of Abbey, who was r.way recovering fironi tin accident which threatened the loss oi" his eyesight. A report was received from tho WesUγ Trail)ing College detailing the. work and slating 'that- one of the"etudtii'fs, Mnlarae Tsnmiii , , was a candidate tor (he Native ministry. ' ' •' '
The Rev. AV. S.''Neal, a minister on (irdba'idn, was examined. Very favourable, reports of his work wei'c received, o'ml it was unanimbu.sly decided that ho pass in' liis year. 'Mr. W. Gatinau, of No'rsewood; a candidate for 'teh uii'nistry', was examined, and by a unanimous vbto was recomineiuled to 'conference for reception, into the ministry,. , . -■' ; . ' ' • At midday the session was adjourned in order to allow the' ministers.to participate in the peace celebrations.
