For the second time in succession the scow Echo has lost her sails while bound from Napier to Wellington. Messrs. John stou and' Co. were yesterday informed that the vessel returned to Napier on Saturday. A' prolonged trip from Wellington to Groymouth has just been made by the, Kamo.' She left hero early on Tuesday 1 morning, and arrived at Groymouth yesterday.' Kough weather forced her'to Bholtcr at Totaranni, and when sho was off the Grey. River an unworkable bar kept her' outside for some hours. Mr. A. W/ Duncan, second officer of the Kakapo, who died of pneumonia following on influenza at sea on Friday, was a native of Auckland, and leaves a widow and two child/in.- His body has been placed in a casket and scaled, and instructions arc being awaited as to whether the interment shall take place, at Nelson or whether the body shall be sent to Auckland. Captain Collins, harbourmaster at Nelson, came to Wellington with thn Kakapo on Saturday owing to Captain Poeo having had an arduous time and the ship being short-handed. Word has jußt been received in Welling, ton of the death from pneumonia, on October 3t, of Mr. William Anderson, late ot the Union Company's pursers' staff. Mr. Anderson, who was twenty years of age, was purser on the Mapoiirika for somo time before ho went into camp in April and left with the Forty-first Reinforcements. Salniond and Spraggon advise that the Tninni will leave to-morrow for Wanganui, and the Mana also to-morrow Tor Lyttelton. The Rum is due at Wellington to-mor-row, from the Chatham'lslands pprts, and the Hincmoa at Lyttelton on Thursday from Waitangi. The schooner Phillipine is to clear Wei. lington to-day for Levuka to load copra for San Francisco.
