Amongst 'the numerous after-war problems which are'pressing for attention is that of the education of the children of soldiers and sailors who.have been killed' or disabled in the Empire s service. It is unquestionably the duty of .the community to ensure that such children 'have at least as good educational opportunities as they would have had if their fathers had remained in their pre-war occupations. The Trentham Dominion Scholarships Art Union, which is becoming so widely known in Wellington and district, has been established for the purpose of providing scholarships for the children of New Zealand's disabled soldiers ' and sailors. The splendid support which the art union has received, indicates that the cause has >vb" "i" miblic sympathy. In vUiition.to helping ft good object, the purchaser of every ticket has an equal chance of winning all or any of the 170 prizes, the total of which is .£6285.
