The Wellington Shakespeare Club's annual reading competition among pupils of secondary schools for.prizes oftercd by tho club was hold at the Technical School on Saturday. The number of candidates .offering was much smaller than in previous years, only four girls boys taking part. Tho judge (Mrs. A. R. Atkinson) made her awards as follow-: —In the girls' .section, Miss Milesi, Wellington Girls' College, first, with 87 per cent, of marks; Miss Kathleen Withy, Fitshcrberfc Terrace School, second, with 7» per cent. In tho boys' section. Master .1. F. Zohrab was placed first with 81 per cent, of marks,' and Master D. ,E. Pnnkhiirst obtained 75 per cent.; both were pupils of Wellington Boys' College. The judge reported that excellent work was done by all in the prepared reading tests, and Miss Milesi's reading of the potion scene from "Roineo and Juliet," which was selected for tho girls' sight reading test, was remarkably good.

A very big packing was done at the Mercer Street Red Cross Depot last week, a great many garments having been sent away to Eeatherston Milikry Hospital. With the recent big demand* upon supplies a clearance has nearly been made, and the committee would be very glad if those workers wiio have ceased their activities for a while would once more come forward! and assist in making fresh supplies of garments.

The wedding took place last week at llio residence of Mr. and Mrs. George Richardson, Rcuiuera, of Miss Ed mi Richardson to Private AV. Bertram Mossman, who is at present on furlough before entering (.ho Royal l-'lying 'Corps.. Chaplain E. A. Bridget- performed the ceremony.
