LIBERAL-UNIONIST FORCES UNITING
PRESS DEMANDS FOR A • CLEAR-CUT POLICY
London, November 9. In view'of the Premier's negotiations with the Unionist- leaders (respecting the coalition policy and Mr. Bouar Law's forthcoming declaration of his y,iews to a meeting of the Unionist Party, it is noteworthy that the "Daily Express, which is in close touch with Mr. Bonar law, strongly appeals to the Premier remake his views ■known. The "Expires* says that while it believes that Mr. Lloyd George's reconstruction proposals will prove sound, it advises nobody to leap in the'dark. "It is up to the Premier to put his cards on the table. The "Express" demands the disclosuiroof the industrial policy, which must include, the protection of new industries, and {he prevention of German "dumping." The "Daily Express" demands declarations in favour of Imperial preference, against the disendownient of the Welsh Church, and against Home Rule, and adds: "The' Premier must speak beyond all possibility of misunderstanding." The •■ "Daily Telegraph" states that Unionist and Liberal supporters. of the Coalition have signed 'an agreement for the avoidance of mutual opposition at the elections—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assh.
MR. BARNES CUTS THE PAINTER
NOW FREE OF THE LABOUR PARTY.
London, November) 10. Mr. George Barnes (Labour member in the War Cabinet)' has decided to remain in the War Cabinet. He declares that he is now free of the Labour Party, and will not stand again as its candidate.
