Cabinet has decided that wherever pos- ■ sible civil servants are to be released : for the remainder of the day immediately ; after the receipt of the official news that the armistice has been signed. Tho Secretary to the General Post Of- '. fices advises that half an hour after the signal is received or given that.an ' armistice is signed, .all' post, telegraph, and telephone offices and exchanges | throughout the Dominion will close to the general public for the rest of the , day. If the signal is given late in the . evening the offices will close all the next day. Chief telegraph offices and chief telephone exchanges will reopen at 10 • p.m. on the day the signal is received. Christchurch, November 11. 3 The managers of music warehouses in 3 Christchurch have decided (o close their i premises for a week from receipt of . the news of Germany's acceptance of f armistice terms. The following arrangement has been S arrived at between the Tramways man--8 agement and tho men:—lf an armistice is 3 declared beforo 3 p.m. on any day the 8 a.m. shift men will work their cars until i) 3 p.m., at which hour all the cars will .. bo run into the sheds and tho men will not; start running the cars again until 3 ' o'clock tho following afternoon, when tho 1 usual running will be resumed. If the 7 hews comes through after 3 p.m. tho 0 cars will ]>o run up to the usual times 7 that night, but no cars at all will be i run the iollowinj day. In St. John's Church, a service of thanksgiving will bo -held in tho evening of the day on which the armistice is declared. The services will begin at S o'clock and last for one hour.
