LIST OF INSURANCES. The manager of Millar's West Australian Hardwoode Company (Mr. A. ;L. Haslam) states that his company's loss in the recent fire ie well covered. They lind .£6OOO on their timber stocks, .£llOO on the machinery plant, and .£2OO on buildings, all hold , by the Norwich Union Office. Mr. Charles Slymon, whose yard occupies a section immediately behind Prouse's building, states that he is a very heavy loser. Tho Ocean Accident . and Fire Insurance Company hold? a risk of .filOO on hie stock of mouldings in a three-storied rack (valued at -£600), and he had .£SOO on his timber in tho yard, which did not suffer m severely. The mouldings were of picked 'heart of rhnu, and very valuable as pjjces aro DOW.
The Wellington Cooperage .and Box Company, which held v a very largo stock of matured timber (mostly white pine), and had ifn extensive machinery plant, aro not nearly fully covered. Tho company's insurances are as follow:—On brick factory building, .C 2500; on machinery on timber. ,13500: stock other than timber, i"00-all hold by the Commercial Union Assurance Company. The London and Lancashire Company also holds a risk of JtSOO on stock (other than timber).
