The memory of New Zealand's sacrifice was brought near, and that sacrifice was hot in .vaiii. The hotelkeepers, however, could not respond. They soid, in effect, "(Joino and let us have a booze." Truiy the trade is. autocratic to the backbone. I.'ho aftermath that day was plainly to be seen, and it i 6 time an Act was passed to ensure thai hotels closo their lxirs when business men aro' asked to close their shops.—l am, etc., BKITiSHKIi.
