COMPETITIONS SOCIETY

T,hc first festival of the Wellington Competitions Society will commence in tho Grand Opera House on Thursday next. In view of the great number of entries 'rcceivod it will be necessary to hold tliieo sessions daily. Tho compotitors in ihe various classes will appear in tho morning and afternoon sessions, the finals only being taken in the evening, thus assuring a first-class programmo every night. In order to make tho Competitions a popular and educative entertainment tut Eiecutivo Council have adopted popular, admission rates throughout the whole season. A novelty in competitiuu programmes is the inclusion of highland dancing.. This has proved a most attractivo item, tho entries being 80 in the various Classes, and tho appointment :if Mr. Mackenzie Forbes, of Wanganui, as adjudicator has met with genoral approval.
