.WHEN HOSTILITIES CEASE. At a shift meeting held yesterdaymorning tne municipal tramway employees decided that when the news arrived that hostilities had ceased at the front they would at once run the care to the s'heds and cease work for a period of twenty-four hours.. This decision on the part of the union was conveyed to the management, and at once it was recognised that such action would be a serious one if it occurred at midday, leaving people who lived in- the suburbs stranded in the city with no prospect of getting home. On this being pointed out to the men by the management, fhe men agreed that they would continue to run the cars up to the end of the a.m. shift (3 p.m.), but they would then knock off work, and.would not resume work until 3 p.m. the next dayThis action on the part of the men will probably prevent some thousands of people from attending the united religious service at the Basin.
