' YESTERDAY'S SITTING LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. yesterday.' ■ j The Hon. ,1. G. W. AITKEN moved the second reading of the John Donald Mucfdrlnnc Estate Administration Bill. Mr. Aitken explained that the Bill had been introduced for the purpose of giving effect to tho will that was. prepared by .John Donald- Macfarlane while he was in perfect mental health and strength. The'estate was worth and pro-" vision was made in.the Bill lor the setting aside of a surn of JJ9OOO for the maintoriance of the testator. There were four sons and two. daughters in the.family, but 'although one of the , latter did not intend to particinate in any distribution which might be made nnder the will if the suggested legislation wero agreed to, she did not oppose tho Bill. If passed by tho Legislature, the measure would be passed to the Supreme Court, which would have to. decide as to who should administer 'the..estate—the Public Trustee or members of the family.

The'motion-,wae seconded by Sir Francis Bell, who stated that as the''measure was something in the nature of a precedent it had better be referred to a t'ommittee of selection for consideration before being debated in , the Council. ■ '['lie Bill was read a second time and referred to a committee' of selection. ■
