TERRACE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
SUNDAY SCHOOI/ANNIVEKSAEY SERVICES. Special services were- held st the Terrace Congregational Church Yesterday to celebrate the seventy-fourth anniversary and the semi-jubilee of the superintendent (Mir. F. Jieadowcroft). : ~
The morning service was conducted by the Kev. J. Reed Glasson,,and after, at tho invitation of Mr. .Meadowcroft, all families connected with the church living at a distamo were entertained at dinner in tho schoolroom. At tea timo theso families were again the guests of Mr. Meadowcroft. In the afternoon tho children were, givon an. interesting object lesson by Mr. W. J. Lankshear.
A sacred organ recital was given in tho church beforo the fvening service and was largely attended, '-'he soloists were Messrs. C, H. Wyatt and J. A. Doherty and Miss Lankshear, and Mr, C. Howe presided at tho organ. A quartet comprising Mcsdames Mackio ind Skully and Messrs. Mackio and C. Lankshear rendered their parts tunefully, Mr. F. Meadowcroft at tho •< veiling service took as his subject "What Pcest Thou?" and dwelt upon the necessity of vision in tho individual. Ho emplnsised four points: What seest for thyself, for tho child, for tho people, and for Now Zealand. Whoro there is no vision, he said, the nation perished.
Jlr. A. M. Lewis led the slnpinpr and Mr\C. Howe played the i rgan. ' The anniversary tea and public mooting will bn held to-night, when "Chirisl's Jewelled Crown" will bo presented, by t!ie scholars.. Ten beys will describe bnw the gold is obtained and prepared for the crown, and twelve girls will each place a jewel in it, illustrating how each jewel symbolises a gift, or virtue, by which Christ's greater crown is to be adorned.
