BRITISH AND FOREIGN SAILORS SOCIETY
Another of the evenings arranged under the auspices of the British and Foreign Sailors' Society, which are so much appreciated by the 6ailors visiting the port, was held in the Sailors' Best, Queen's Chambers, Post Office Square, on Saturday night, A party of ladies from the Vivian Street Baptist Church contributed a programme of'pnrlouir games and singing which was thoroughly enjoyed by the sailors who make tho Sailors' Best a home while-a.way from home. Light refreshments were handed round and the proceedings were closed with prayer. Increased interest is being taken in these gatherings by Wellington admirers of our sailor friends, who have come to realise what a hard life the average sailor has to enduro for the benefit of those remaining ashore and the many temptations which beset him when in a strange port fair from his home, and who recognise the good work being done by the Wellington Sailors' Rest and similar institutions.
