While there she had a long and arduous experience of Grand Guignol plays. For years, night after night, it was ft common thing for her to play the lead in a scries of oneact plays .put on for those who loved the best in dra'mii and good acting. In one play the drama would be tense and the theme tragic. In the next she was a' pereon of entirely different temperament, and in the third still another; character. It was. a great test of versatility, and the management' retained . Miss Polini and Holbrook Blinn for the leads for over five years. But the work vas.fhe most arduous she has ever done, although,.perhaps, the most instructive. Her part in "The Eyes of Youth" takes her vividly back to those day's in New York. She undertakes, in this play, five characterisations in the one evening.
