About .5 p.m. on- tho '23rd witness, her husband, and tho child were in the house' together. Witness was .-peaking on the telephone to a .neighbour. Mrs. Griffeii, I ho; others being in an adjoining-room. While at the telephone she beard the child scream and ran into the room, Shu'fouud the. child lying on the .bed. with blood streaming from' its c-yes. Her husband had a table fork in his hand, ahe.asked him ho'v he tould hurt the •baby like that, and he replied, ."It 'had ■to -be- done;" She told her husband,, "who- she knew must : 'be out of his mind ■'(he'had heeniiv an asylum before) to go. arid get the'-cows; mid ->ang- up JFrs. ;'(jififfeil and asked' bei- to '-cdiiie to he'r' assistance and get a doctor; -Hefofe Mrs; Gfiffen ' arrived her husband ' reth'rned and tried to get into the housCj but she 'had the door fastened. With' Mrs.' Griffen, \witncss went with the < hild to another neighbour's!' On Dr.- Mnirliii'e arrival the child was attended to and taken to the Hospital next day.
■A verdict was returned I hat deceased liied from injuries inflicted by her lather, who was undoubtedly, insane.. Morino was not present, but Dr. Stride's certificate, stating that lie' was of unsound mind, ivas read.
