CHRISTCHURCH TRAMWAYS
CONDUCTORS DISMISSED FOR NOT COLLECTING FARES. By Telegraph-Press' Association. Christchurch, October 31. In connection with tho tramway trouble two conductors wore discharged from the tramway service to-day. Tho action was taken on the ground that the men bad either deliberately declined to collect tares or had refrained from collecting them. Tho conductors were engaged on' tho Sumner line, and it is stated that in one caso forty-two sixpenny fares were not collected, while in the other sixteen fares were missed. Complaint in each case was made by passengers. It is staled that other cases of a similar nature aro being reported, and action will be taken when the facts are ascertained.
