Daniels, Secretary of the United States Navy, has announced that more than 250,000 mines were laid in tbo great j nuti-subiuarine minefield across tho North I Sea from.the Norwegian coa6t to within I a fow miles of Scotland.. 'The Brit- | ish and American Navies co-operated in ! laying this anme barrage, which has j proved a most effective measure against : the U-boats.
