SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY
A delightful day wns spent by the men of the sea at the Sailors' Friend Society's picnic on Monday. The heavy rain 3 prevented sports outdoors,, but these were indulged in with vim in tho spacious Institute, under tho guidance of tho niissioner, Mr. Moore, assisted by the workers; In tho afternoon a big' double-decker car conveyed the party to one of the suburbs. The winners in tho day's sports were -Messrs. Jones, George, T. Day, L. Fillingham, G. Adams, O. Richards, W. Callnrd, AV. Monaghan, and Mrs. Kebbell aiid Mrs.. Nolson, and the Jlisscs Sillijant and F. Tunley. The oversea men beat the Amokura in tho tug-of-war event. Tho sports were thoroughly enjoyed. The concert given in tho evening by Mesdaines Walker and Child was very thoroughly enjoyed. The performers were the hostesses and tho Jlisscs Bennett and Kita aud Kathleen Uecoe, and Messrs. D. Saunders, James, W. Smith, Johns, and Rev. H. Heady. Supper, cheers, and "Auld Acquaintance" closed a very pleasant day.
