Tho homo team gained further ground in r -ho second 'round-mostly at the lower lioards-and were finally returned winners ly 23 games to 10. At the conclusion if-the match Mr. Jones (captain) returned thanks for the hospitality ami kindnesses extended to his team. He made.it clear that they hud thoroughly enoyed their visit, their onlyr regiret being that in the absence of the four Kuraniers (of whoni two- are away at tho war), Moore, Walden, and I others, they had not put up a 'better fight. At his call three i.ou'iy cheers were given for the South Wellington team. The latter returaed the compliment, after a neat speech by Ma\ G. P. Anderson (captain), who voiced the pleasure experienced by the home team' in renewing old friendships and tho making of new ones, this being'of far more account than the mere winning or losing of games.
