He was Huleean Lecturer, Cambridge, 1878; Brampton Lecturer, Oxford, 1887; Pastoral Lecturer on Theology, Cambridge, 1895;' Noble Lecturer (Harvard), 190J and 1913; Donnellan Lecturer, Dublin, 1914-15 and 1915IG. He was Canon of Windsor from 1882 to 1884, and lion, chaplain to the Queen from 1879 to 1883. Chaplain-in-Oidinary 1883-81, Bishop of Eipon 1884-1911. Since 1911 he has been Canon of Westminster. •He has been responsible for a great many publications on theological subjects and the literature of Dante.]
