SIX UOTOEMEN DISMISSED. By Telegraiih.—Press Association. Christchurch, October 28. .Six motorihen have been dismissed by the Tramway Hoard for u brench of the regulations in connection with the "go slow" ipolicy of t'lii* union. At a meeting of the union yesterday drastic action was advocated, but. eventually members agreed to wait, until the general public had received an opportunity of realising what Iwd taken place. Jt was resolved: "That the union adheres to its previous decisions. It demands Wellington terms, and resolves (hat no negotiations be entered into with the board until the victimised men are reinstated'unconditionally." It. was also resolved to ','nppeal to organised Labour throughout' .\ew Zealand to have this injustice removed and flip Christchurch tramwaymen given a square deal."
in an official statement the union seerotary says the U per cent, increase granted by the board was not considered adequate to enable the tramwaymen. (o maintain a decent standard of living without getting into debt.
Mr. W. H. Hagger, Conciliation Commissioner, has been trying to-day to arrange n conference, between the Tramway Board and the union, but says the reinstatement of the dismissed men is an. obstacle in the way. The go-slow policy of the trams continues.
